I don’t own either but I drove both a few years ago and the clio was lots faster and handled better. I also had a 182 cup for a while which felt about twice as quick as a vts. Still, the saxo is what 3 grand cheaper? Its a good car, its just not as good as the 172.

The VTS has a much much more honed suspension set up and was geared towards booting it round corners. on a B road it would be close but the saxo would win.
ive had a 106 gti and now got the clio 172. While the clio is deffinatly faster and a lot of fun is still doint think its as much fun as the smaller vts/106gti

its top gear from years ago before they changed the format. They cancelled it for a couple of years i think. Tiff and vicky went on to start 5th gear. But then clarkson,hammond and may started the new look top gear.

No the Clio would still win. The 172 was widely regarded across europe to be the best handling hot hatch of its time.
Im not surprised saxo owners think the vts is better. They would say that… sadly though, its just not true.
