have done 10 laps of nurburgring in vxr loads of grip nice twitchy rear end brakes cant take more than 2 laps as they overheat but this is an extreme track ,have you seen the interior of clio, a 79 fiesta is nicer ,hardcore is not easy every day!

I have a Clio197, and for anyone who has commented on the Corsa being more fun to drive…trust me, it’s not. The Clio goes round bends with ease and at any speed you want. Exciting and fun driving is all about twisting roads, not straight-line drags, and the Clio197 is the best in its class at road holding, cornering, and subsequently driving enjoyment.

No its a mk2 clio 172 on a 52 plate (03 onwards have traction control) and has been modified to 190bhp. Ive had a go against a 197 cup and they are very dissapointing, i pulled away suprisingly easy although the story will be massively differant on the bends ;)

Is it a 197? Did it have 197bhp? Most of them don’t even get to 180, and that’s a shame and a scam on buyers.

Actually the clios power is much higher up the rev range due to the fact that it is n/a and not turbocharged. The clio is definatly more for the track and i agree the corsa vxr does look a lot better IMO. Its just a shame that the new clio gained 150+kg of weight over the old 182 which has numbed the power deilvery, although the new 197 does handle better than the old clios!

My clio has been lightly modified to 190bhp with standard suspension + green stuff pads and grooved discs.

    The chassis of your clio.

The Clio is a more track oriented car, with the power coming lower down the rev range, and a shorter gear ratio.
The Corsa ir a more every-day car, more comfortable suspension, with more power delivered in less but more consistent lumps, so it costed it 1.2secs, driver error aside the difference would be minimal.
The Corsa sounds better, looks better(subjective) is better equiped and it costs less, I would have it over the Clio.

The corsa doesnt handle as well as the clio its as simple as that! If there were less corners and more straights the corsa would win definatly, i like both cars a lot but wouldnt have one over my 172, for one reason they are both slower due to the fact they are both lardy which is a shame.

Reliability leaves a lot to be desired, but when it works its the best of the bunch to drive

Exactly, chavs see how fast they can go down the motorway in their Corsas, car enthusiasts see how fast they can lap on track days in their Clios! Joking aside, both excellent cars, I’d take the Clio, I prefer the looks and its supposed to be better to drive and after all, thats what you do with a car, drive it!

The Corsa might have a punchier engine but seriously, it’s so chavvy I can’t quite believe it. Cap and *** compulsory. I’d go for the Clio any and every day of the week.

The Clio is a better car but look at it.
It’s too sensible and what do you want when you got a hothatch. You want it to be mad and fun to drive.
The Clio isn’t mad but it’s fun to drive but the Corsa is mad and fun to drive.
    I like the Corsa better.

vauxhall corsa are ****. vaux corsa r for stupid 17 yr old punk’s cars boomin wiv their bassy music its common as hell. the new corsa vxr may look good but yet its decieving when comes to performance, its terrible. car of the joke - NOT car of the year. so over rated POS. i would go for the clio sport over a corsa vxr.
